Jobs that get away

The job requires a P.E. Seal and you don't have an engineer on staff

The job needs structural calculations for equipment you're mounting

The scope includes engineering you don't do, so the bid goes to somebody else

The prints need to be permit-ready and you're working with field sketches

The panel has to be UL 508A listed and the local shop won't take a one-off order

The work is out there.
Take on more of it with an engineer.

The jobs worth bidding keep getting bigger, and more of them need engineering you may not staff. Sealed drawings, arc flash and coordination studies, structural calculations, hazardous area classification. Without an engineer to sign that work, those jobs go to the contractors who have one.

Adding a full-time engineer is expensive, and the work may not be steady enough to justify it. Some contractors call us when the need arises. Others have made engineering and controls part of their service offering.

You take the job. We'll back the engineering.

The prints need a stamp

P.E. sealed electrical drawings, permit-ready drawing packages, hazardous area classification

Your customer needs an arc flash study

Arc flash studies, short circuit and coordination studies, load studies

You're mounting equipment that needs calculations

Structural calculations, equipment pads and supports, seismic bracing

You need panels, not a production run

UL 508A fabrication, panel design without fabrication, factory acceptance testing

The job includes controls you don't self-perform

PLC and HMI programming, SCADA integration, control narratives and loop diagrams, migration off obsolete platforms; AMG is a Beckhoff Integrator Group member and Rockwell Automation EPC Network member

Something keeps tripping and nobody can say why

Root cause investigation, nuisance tripping and coordination issues, power quality assessments

Nobody has the as-builts

Laser scanning, one-lines and as-built documentation, drawing review

What this looks like over time

An electrical Contractor in southwest Ohio

They were winning industrial work that needed engineering that they didn't staff. Sealed drawings on some jobs, an arc flash study on others, control panels, controls programming.

They called us when the need came up. Then they called us on the next job, and the one after that.

Today, electrical engineering and controls is one of the core services they sell, without ever adding an electrical engineer to their payroll.
